A 25-year-old single malt from Linkwood, the Speyside distillery, bottled by the independent firm Gordon & MacPhail at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
It matured for more than a quarter of a century in first-fill and refill sherry casks, which bring warm spice, orchard fruit and floral notes.
The nose offers baked apple, stewed raisin and cinnamon, followed by sweet liquorice and light floral touches over polished oak. The palate is sweet and spicy, with date, prune and raisin alongside warming pepper, cinnamon and clove, then blackcurrant, cherry jam and candied citrus. The finish is nutty, with lingering oak.
