Livia Fontana Fontanin Barolo

A Barolo made from Nebbiolo grown at Castiglione Falletto at about 300-350 metres above sea level. The grapes are harvested manually with careful selection in mid-October. Ageing lasts about 40 months in traditional oak barrels, followed by bottle ageing in the cellar at controlled temperature and humidity. It shows a deep red colour with ruby to garnet reflections. The nose offers complex aromas of macerated violet and balsamic notes, with spicy hints of liquorice root and nutmeg. The palate is clear and structured, with soft but well-defined tannins. It pairs with red meats, roasts, game and aged cheeses.
