Lochlea – Fallow Edition First Crop 2022 (70cl, 46%)

First Crop is the third release in Lochlea's yearly series of seasonal bottlings, with an autumn theme. It is a Lowland single malt bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle, and the red-brown label reflects the autumn colours around the distillery. The whisky matured in first fill Oloroso sherry casks. It is made from barley grown on Lochlea's own fields and is non-chill filtered. The nose brings sherry, juicy plums, poached apple and warm, freshly baked pancakes. The palate has dried figs and prunes, spiced fruit tart, damp earth and a hint of aniseed. The finish is dark syrup, honey and warming winter spices.
