This is the First Release from Lochlea, a craft single malt from Ayrshire in south-west Scotland, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. The barley comes from the distillery's own local fields, and the whisky was distilled and matured on site in first fill bourbon casks and ex-Pedro Ximenez sherry casks.
It is non-chill filtered and has no added colouring.
The nose combines citrus, malt and green apples with cask, warm spices and vanilla. The palate brings apple, fresh thyme and white pepper, then vanilla and spice. The finish is elegant, sweet and malty, with a touch of cask and flowers.
