Lochlea – Harvest Edition Second Crop (70cl, 46%)

Lochlea Harvest Edition Second Crop is a Lowland single malt from the distillery's seasonal releases, which follow the calendar of its working farm. It is one of a set of four limited editions and takes its inspiration from the end of summer, when the golden barley is harvested. This 2023 release uses Ruby Port and Tawny Port casks, STR barriques and first fill Bourbon barrels. The Port casks add creaminess and the STR barriques a peppery spice. It is bottled at 46%, with natural colour and without chill filtration. The nose offers dates, ripe red grapes and thick-cut marmalade. Pink peppercorns and dried fruit follow on the palate, and the finish is creamy and lingering.
