Lochlea Our Barley is the core single malt of the Lochlea distillery in Ayrshire, in a 70cl bottle at 46% ABV. It is made entirely from barley grown on Lochlea Farm and was launched in 2022.
The whisky is matured in first-fill bourbon barrels, Oloroso sherry butts and STR (shaved, toasted, re-charred) Rioja wine barriques. It is bottled non-chill filtered and at natural colour.
The nose brings pear syrup, fruit bonbons, warm cut grass and marmalade. On the palate there are golden syrup, pepper, rye bread and macadamia nuts, with a lift of cream soda. The finish is long, with an orange and beeswax note.
