Lochlea Ploughing Edition is a single malt from Lochlea Farm in Ayrshire, the winter release in a series of four seasonal editions that follow the farming year. It is bottled at 46% in a 700ml bottle, non-chill filtered and with natural colour.
The whisky has a peated profile and is matured in ex-Islay barrels. Lochlea is a family-owned farm distillery on land that was Robert Burns's home from 1777 to 1784.
The nose brings baked fruit and light peat smoke. The palate has old-fashioned boiled sweets, cooked apple and Brazil nuts, and the finish is lingering, with fruit, nuttiness and gentle peat.
