Lochlea – Red Wine Cask 2025 Edition (70cl, 46%)

Lochlea Red Wine Cask is a Lowland single malt from Ayrshire and the first release in an annual series of red wine finishes. This is the 2025 edition, and each year the series is due to feature a different red wine. The whisky was matured in first fill Bourbon barrels, then finished in Grenache casks. It is bottled at 46%, with natural colour and without chill filtration. The nose is sweet and floral, with fresh pink berries, oak and tannins. On the palate come juicy red fruits, berries and cherries, with sweet vanilla and almond that recall strawberry shortcake. The finish brings rich oak, cereal, tannins and spiced biscuits.
