Lochlea – Small Batch STR Single Malt Scotch Whisky ImpEx US Exclusive (70cl, 60%)

Lochlea Small Batch STR is a cask-strength single malt from Lochlea Distillery on Lochlea Farm in South Ayrshire, Scotland, bottled at 60% in a 70cl bottle for ImpEx Beverages for the United States. The whisky was first filled into refill bourbon barrels, then double-matured in American oak STR casks, meaning shaved, toasted and re-charred. Three casks were married for this bottling, a combination the distillery had not made before. It is non-chill filtered, with no added colour. The distillery's notes describe a nose of fresh cantaloupe melon and rich Manuka honey, a palate of subtle nutmeg and white pepper, and a finish of warm malted bread and butter.
