Lochlea Sowing Edition is a Lowland single malt Scotch whisky from the Lochlea farm distillery in Tarbolton, Ayrshire. It is bottled at 48% ABV in a 700ml bottle.
The whisky is made from Laureate barley grown on the estate's own fields and malted without peat. It is fully matured in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels, and the spirit is fermented in Douglas fir washbacks over a long cycle of 66 to 116 hours.
The nose offers red apple, ripe pear, creamy cereal and vanilla, with a little peach. The palate brings vanilla, almond oil, orchard fruit, caramel apple, hazelnut and orange zest. The finish is medium in length, with pine and gentle woody spice.
