This is the Second Crop release of the Sowing Edition from Lochlea, part of the distillery's seasonal small batch series that follows the farming calendar. The 2023 release uses only fresh first-fill ex-bourbon barrels (Maker's Mark), taken from higher up in the warehouse than the previous year. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle, with natural colour and no chill filtration.
The nose is red apple and pear, the distillery's signature. The palate brings vanilla pods and almond oil. The finish is of medium length, with a crisp, refreshing note of pine forest.
