Lóchrann Aoire, meaning The Shepherd's Lantern, is Batch 001 of a multi-distillery Irish blend from the independent bottler Scair Uisce, bottled at 53% in a 70cl bottle. It combines 15 year old grain whiskey from Cooley, a 6 year old malt from Great Northern finished in a peat-infused sherry cask, and a 3 year old malt from Hinch.
Bourbon, sherry and Port casks all play a part. The label shows Kira, the collie belonging to Scair Uisce founder Mark, and €2 from each bottle goes to MADRA, a dog rescue charity in Galway.
Its character is fruity, with bakery and spice sweetness and a subtle touch of campfire smoke.
