This is a 1981 Lochside single malt, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in 2015 as part of its Rare Old series. Lochside is a distillery that has since closed.
The whisky was matured in a refill sherry hogshead and released as a limited edition of 161 bottles, in a 70cl bottle at 43% ABV. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour.
The nose is ripe pear and apple with a hint of spice. The palate brings honeyed peaches, baked apple and subtle dark chocolate, and the medium-long finish carries stewed fruit and light woodsmoke.
