Lock, Stock & Barrel Vatted Straight Rye is a vatted blend of straight rye whiskies aged between 8 and 16 years, bottled at 50% in a 750ml bottle. It is made by R.J. Cooper & Son in Scobeyville, New Jersey.
The barrels come from Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Indiana and Alberta, Canada, with a core of around nine years old and older stocks adding depth. They are married together in vats and left to integrate.
The nose is maple and toffee, then mace, clove, dried fruit and white pepper. The palate opens peppery, then turns to vanilla, nougat, honey, green apple and pear. The finish is long, with clove, dried fruit and a last lift of rye spice.
