Lombard Rosé de Saignée Brut Nature Les Marquises 2018 Verzenay Grand Cru

A 2018 rosé Champagne from Lombard, made as a Brut Nature from Pinot Noir grown in the Grand Cru of Verzenay. The grapes macerate for about eight hours before the saignée, in which part of the free-run juice is drawn off and fermented without the skins. The wine then spends four to six months in wooden casks, followed by four years on the lees before disgorgement. The colour is rose-petal pink with a fine, persistent mousse. The nose is delicate, with small red berries and a touch of yeast. The palate is fresh and savoury with good breadth, and the finish is of medium length.
