A 17 year old Longmorn from 2003, bottled by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society under the code 7.256. It was matured in a single first-fill bourbon barrel and filled as 139 bottles in 2021, made exclusively for members of the Society's virtual tasting club. It comes in a 70cl bottle.
The nose starts with canvas, mineral oil, baking soda, leavened bread and turmeric, then moves to potting sheds, moss, breakfast cereal with icing sugar and fruit cordials. With water it turns waxier, with aged Riesling, sandalwood, peach, kumquat and green apple. The palate is oily and mouth-coating, with herbal teas and dried exotic fruits, and cloves and fennel seed when reduced.
