Longrow 21 Year Old 2023 Release (70cl, 46%)

This is the 2023 release of Longrow 21 Year Old, a peated single malt from Campbeltown made at Springbank. Each yearly release is matured differently, and this one was drawn from 65% sherry casks and 35% bourbon casks. It is bottled at 46%, with natural colour and without chill-filtration. Longrow takes its name from a Campbeltown distillery that once stood beside Springbank. It was first produced in 1973 to give a peaty, oily and robust element to a blend, and its heavier peating and double distillation have kept it in regular production since the 1990s. The nose is of beach bonfire, roasted hazelnuts, dark berries and cedar. On the palate a clear sweetness gives way to warm spice and maritime notes, with smoke and a hint of Havana tobacco.
