Longrow Peated is a Campbeltown single malt in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 46% without chill-filtration or added colouring. It is a no-age-statement vatting of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks.
Longrow was first distilled at Springbank in 1973 as a deliberate experiment in heavily peated mainland whisky. It is peated to roughly 50 ppm and made with a direct-fired still and a worm-tub condenser.
Tasting notes describe earthy peat and cold bonfire ash with ripe pears and vanilla custard on the nose. The palate is oily, with honey, vanilla cream and smoked meat, and the finish is long and sooty, with sea salt, hazelnut and liquorice.
