Longrow Peated is a Campbeltown single malt from Springbank Distillery, named after a lost Campbeltown distillery. It is the heavily peated, double-distilled counterpart to the lightly peated Springbank, with the barley malted for 48 hours over peat fires to around 50 PPM.
It is matured in bourbon and sherry casks and bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle.
The nose opens with creamy vanilla custard, toasted marshmallows, herbs and rich fruit, with smoke building slowly alongside a salty, leathery maritime note. On the palate, smoke comes in waves around green grapes and rhubarb, and the finish stays gently smoky and salty.
