Longrow Red 15 Year Old is the 2022 release in the annual Longrow Red series, a heavily peated Campbeltown single malt made at Springbank Distillery. It was bottled on 4 February 2022 at a cask strength of 51.4% (102.8 proof) in a 750ml bottle, without chill filtration and with natural colour. The outturn was 9,400 bottles.
The spirit spent 11 years in ex-bourbon barrels, then 4 years in Pinot Noir barriques from Grant Taylor's Valli Vineyards in Central Otago, New Zealand.
The nose is described as custard, bramble jelly, red apple, cherry and strawberry jam, with smoky embers. The palate is oily, with earthy peat, raspberry, pumpernickel, anise and ashy smoke.
