Longrow Red 7 Year Old Pinot Noir Cask Matured (57.1%)

This is Longrow Red, a seven-year-old Campbeltown single malt from the Springbank distillery, bottled at 57.1%. It spent four years in ex-bourbon casks and a further three in ex-Pinot Noir casks. It is non-chill-filtered, of natural colour, and limited to 10,000 bottles. Smoke and fruit run together: smoked ham or bacon, raspberry and cherry, wine-like Pinot Noir tones, a little sweetness of marmalade or honey, and pepper and spice. The finish is long and warm, with lingering smoke, a slightly mineral, maritime touch of salt, seaweed and sea air, and red fruit with the tannins of the wine.
