Cristal 2008 from Louis Roederer is a vintage champagne, here in a 3 litre jeroboam. It is made from 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay from selected Grand Cru vineyards, and spent 8 years in the cellar and a further 8 months after disgorgement.
In the glass it is golden with fine, elegant bubbles. The nose offers ripe pear, peach, citrus and dried fruit, with toasted notes and a touch of oak. The palate is full, precise and harmonious, with figs, flowers, spices, dark chocolate and a chalky minerality.
