Louis Roederer Philippe Starck Brut Nature 2018 Champagne

A vintage Brut Nature Champagne from Louis Roederer, made without any dosage. The grapes come only from the Côteaux de Cumières: one third Chardonnay and two thirds Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, with 25% of the wine vinified in oak casks. It ages for five years in the house cellars and rests a further six months after disgorgement. The colour is yellow with faint amber glints and a very fine bead. The nose is floral, with honeysuckle and broom alongside lightly toasted hazelnut, chestnut cream and a touch of Sansho pepper. The palate is broad and full yet light, with ripe yellow fruit and a lively, saline acidity. The finish is very long, with spice returning and a gentle woody note.
