Louis XIII is Rémy Martin's flagship cognac, bottled at 40% ABV in a 75cl Classic decanter. It is a blend of up to 1,200 eaux-de-vie, all from Grande Champagne, aged between 40 and 100 years in tiercons, old thin-walled Limousin oak casks that are no longer made.
Paul-Émile Rémy Martin created it in 1874. It comes in a handmade, individually numbered crystal decanter modelled on a flask found on the 1569 Battle of Jarnac battlefield, inside the house's red coffret.
The flavours include myrrh, honey, dried roses, plum, honeysuckle, cigar box, leather, figs and passion fruit, and the palate keeps evolving for over an hour.
