Lucky Cat Baijiu (75cl, 42%)

Lucky Cat Baijiu is a strong-aroma (nongxiang) baijiu at 42%, the most popular style in China. It is made in China from sorghum by Hombo Shuzo, the Japanese company behind Mars Whisky. The sorghum is fermented in earthen pits and distilled by solid-state methods. The label carries a white lucky cat with a raised left paw, a sign of happiness and purity. It shows clean fruit with a peaty edge, and the style is full-bodied and smooth. Small pours of it are best taken neat at room temperature, as is traditional in China.
