Mac-Talla Virgin Oak Limited Edition (70cl, 53.8%)

This is a limited edition Islay single malt from Morrison Distillers, part of the Mac-Talla range. It is bottled at 53.8% ABV in a 70cl bottle, with natural colour and without chill filtration. It is a marriage of 27 standard American barrels, a selection of bourbon barrels and '#4 Char' virgin oak barrels from Kelvin Cooperage in Kentucky. Morrison Distillers filled Islay new make spirit into the casks and handled maturation, vatting and bottling at its own facilities in Aberargie. The virgin oak softens the peat considerably. The colour is golden barley. The nose brings deep oak spice, toffee apples and muscovado sugar. On the palate there are rich smoked oak, warm baking spices, sticky toffee pudding and creamy butterscotch.
