Macallan 12 Year Old Double Cask is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky bottled at 43% in a 75cl bottle. It is matured in a combination of sherry-seasoned American oak and European oak casks, the sherry coming from Jerez in Spain.
The American oak adds vanilla and honey sweetness, while the European oak brings dried fruit and warm spice.
The nose opens with fudge, butterscotch, candied orange peel and lemon zest, with vanilla, raisins and hazelnuts. The palate offers milk chocolate, raisins and toffee, then ginger, white pepper and toasted hazelnuts. The finish is smooth and lingering, with sweet oak, citrus oil and soft spice.
