Macallan 12 Year Sherry Oak is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky in a 75cl bottle at 43% ABV. It is matured for at least twelve years in sherry-seasoned oak.
The casks are hand-picked European and American oak, seasoned with sherry in Spanish bodegas before being sent to Speyside to be filled with new make spirit. The distillery double-distils in small copper pot stills and takes only around 16% of the run.
Expect dried fruit, candied citrus peel and ginger on the nose, then raisins, sultanas and ginger syrup on the palate with a little vanilla. The finish is long and warming, with oak and baking spice.
