Macallan – 18 Year Old 1979

This is Macallan 18 Year Old distilled in 1979, an older bottling from a time when the distillery was refining its approach to sherry-seasoned oak. It was matured for at least eighteen years in Oloroso sherry casks from Jerez, and the character is full-bodied and richly sherried. The nose brings dried fruit, ginger and toffee. On the palate there are raisin, sultana and caramel, followed by a warm, spicy finish of orange and oak.
