Macallan – 1861 Replica (70cl, 42.7%)

This is the second release in the Macallan Replica Series, a single malt Scotch whisky bottled in 2002 at 42.7% in a 70cl bottle. The series has since been discontinued. On the nose there are orchard fruits such as apple and pear, dried fig, orange zest, cinnamon and clove, and a whisper of toasted oak. The palate brings caramelised nuts, spiced vanilla, layers of chocolate and floral undertones, with a creamy texture. The finish is long, with sweet malt, faint smoky oak and lingering warmth.
