This is a single malt from The Macallan, released in 2021 as the first in a yearly series inspired by Hogmanay and New Year's Eve in Scotland. It is bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky is a blend of spirit matured in sherry-seasoned European oak, sherry-seasoned American oak and American ex-bourbon barrels. The packaging was designed with the illustrator Erica Dorn, whose layered artwork draws on festive scenes and Scottish shortbread.
Tasting notes describe a nose of toasted oats, shortbread, dried orange, ginger and cinnamon. The palate is soft and sweet with fig, date, spice and citrus peel, leading to a medium, warming finish of ginger and oak.
