Macallan Classic Cut (75cl, 53%)

Macallan Classic Cut is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky without an age statement, bottled at cask strength, 53% in this case, in a 75cl bottle. It is a yearly limited edition chosen by The Macallan's Whisky Maker, who picks the bottling strength that best shows that year's casks. It matures in sherry-seasoned European oak and ex-bourbon American oak casks. The nose has butterscotch, honey, dates, cherries and apricot, with cinnamon and nutmeg. On the palate there is honeyed malt, ripe apricot, peach, walnut and clove, and water brings forward tropical fruit and lemon. The finish starts dry and spiced, then turns to dried apricot, chocolate and honey, ending with oak and a touch of mint.
