A Speyside single malt from Macallan, bottled at 46.8% in a 70cl bottle. It was developed by Macallan whisky-maker Euan Kennedy together with the Roca brothers of the restaurant El Celler de Can Roca, and is said to capture the energy and complexity of Hong Kong.
The whisky was drawn from sherry-seasoned European oak hogsheads, ex-bourbon casks and sherry-seasoned American oak.
The nose is rich, resinous and sweet, with ginger and spice, pomelo and mango, a hint of Hong Kong egg tart, honey and old oak. The palate is viscous at first, with tropical sweetness, ginger, rounded spices, aged oak, grapefruit and an umami depth. The finish stays with old oak.
