This Macallan comes from the Exceptional Cask series and was matured in an American oak refill sherry hogshead. It was distilled in October 1997 and bottled in 2018, with only 187 bottles filled at a cask strength of 54.1% ABV.
The nose offers ripe apricot, green apple and redcurrant, balanced by cinnamon, clove and a gentle oak undertone. On the palate, caramel and dark chocolate meet baked pear and nutmeg, with roasted almonds and a creamy texture. The finish is long and warming, with spiced honey and espresso.
