This is the 2024 release of Macallan Rare Cask, a single malt bottled at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
It was made from the widest range of cask profiles ever used for a single Macallan. American and European oak casks seasoned with sherry were combined, with a large share of first-fill casks. The colour is ruby red.
The nose opens with vanilla and raisins, then apple, lemon and orange, balanced by ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg and clove. On the palate the spice continues, with clear oak, vanilla and chocolate and a touch of fresh citrus. The finish is warm, full and woody.
