This is the 2023 release of the Macallan Rare Cask, a limited single malt from the Speyside distillery. It is bottled at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
It was made entirely from selected sherry-seasoned oak casks and shows a ruby-mahogany colour in the glass.
The nose is gentle, with vanilla and raisins alongside fresh apple, lemon and orange. On the palate, an intense raisin sweetness develops into vanilla and dark chocolate, with light citrus notes. The finish is long, rich and velvety.
