Macallan Rare Cask is a Speyside single malt with no age statement, bottled at 43% ABV in a 75cl bottle.
It is made entirely from first-fill sherry-seasoned oak casks. The Master Whisky Maker selects fewer than 1% of the casks maturing at the distillery, choosing only those with the depth and richness the expression needs.
The nose is pungent sherry and ripe blackberry, with toffee, raisin, vanilla, tobacco leaf and orange peel. The palate is plush and sweet, with plum pudding, dried apricot, vanilla, coffee, dark chocolate, clove and ginger. The finish is medium to long, with raisin sweetness, drying nutmeg, chocolate and citrus.
