Macallan – Red Collection 40 Year Old

Macallan Red Collection 40 Year Old is a single malt from a limited-edition series that celebrates the history and craftsmanship of the distillery. The colour red recalls the founder, Alexander Reid, whose surname means 'the red one' in Scots, and the red ribbon on The Macallan's 40-year-old released in 1980. This whisky was laid down in hand-picked oak casks and matured for 40 years. The nose combines figs, raisins, dark chocolate, oak, leather, vanilla and a little spice. The palate is full-bodied, with dried fruit, toffee, oak and dark chocolate, and the finish is long, balancing sweet, spicy and oaky notes.
