Macallan – Reflexion 2019 (43%)

Reflexion is a Macallan single malt bottled at 43% ABV, here in its 2019 edition. It was matured in smaller hogshead casks, which give the whisky a greater surface area of wood to work with, using both Spanish and American oak. First-fill casks were chosen for the depth of colour and flavour they provide. The colour is blood orange. On the nose there is fresh orange zest and citrus, green apples, chocolate, fudge, aniseed and toffee, with bananas and sweet oak at the end. The palate offers lemon and orange sweetness, raisin, sultana and apple, with a little cinnamon and ginger. The finish is medium and soft, with toasted oak.
