Macbeth First Murderer is an 18 year old single malt Scotch whisky distilled on the Isle of Mull, bottled at 51.8% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is one of four island whiskies in the Murderers series, part of a Macbeth collection inspired by the Scottish play, with an illustration by Sir Quentin Blake.
The release is limited to 2,100 bottles and is described as a robust, smoky malt from Scotland's western edges.
The nose brings spiced green olive oil, rock pools and iodine, then woody herbs and wild grasses. On the palate come white pepper, oysters and preserved lemons, with sourdough, cedar, brine and peat smoke. The finish is long and dry, with smoke and sea air.
