Maculan Madoro Passito Rosso del Veneto IGT (37.5cl)

Madoro is a sweet red passito from Maculan in the Veneto, in a 37.5cl bottle. It is made mainly from Marzemino and Cabernet Sauvignon, with the grapes dried for several months to concentrate their sugars and aromas. Fermentation and ageing take place in small oak barrels, which add toasted and vanilla notes to the fruit and spice. The colour is a deep red with amber glints. The nose shows ripe plums and blackberries with chocolate, coffee, sweet spice and a light balsamic touch. The palate is sweet but balanced by good acidity, with dark chocolate, spice and vanilla, and a long finish with a mineral note.
