Maison Piron Beaujolais-Villages 2022 (75cl, 13.5%)

This is a 2022 Beaujolais-Villages from Maison Piron, a red wine made from Gamay at 13.5% abv in a 75cl bottle. The grapes come from vines more than 50 years old. They are handled gently, with some destemming before fermentation by the semi-carbonic method. The wine is built on wines from Lantignie. It balances structure with juicy fruit, with blackcurrant and strawberry notes. Behind the fresh fruit are depth, a touch of minerality and a hint of white pepper.
