Maker's Mark 46 is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Loretto, in a 750ml bottle at 47% ABV. It starts as fully matured Maker's Mark, made from a wheated mashbill of 70% corn, 16% soft red winter wheat and 14% malted barley. Ten seared virgin French oak staves are then added to each barrel, and the bourbon finishes for a further nine weeks in the distillery's limestone cellar.
Burnt sugar and hazelnut lead the nose, with pecan pie, vanilla, crème brûlée, varnished oak and cherry. The palate is toasty and creamy, with deep vanilla, caramel, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove and dried cherry. The finish is medium-long, with caramel, toasted oak and gentle spice.
