Maker's Mark is a wheated Kentucky straight bourbon, bottled at 45% ABV in a 1.75L bottle. It has been made in Loretto, Kentucky since 1953, and is aged for approximately six years.
Bill Samuels Sr. developed the recipe with soft red winter wheat in place of rye. The mashbill is 70% corn, 16% wheat and 14% malted barley, double distilled in copper pot stills and matured in charred American white oak barrels. The barrels are rotated by hand between upper and lower rack levels.
The nose has caramel, vanilla, brown sugar, dried apple and orange, with toasted oak and cinnamon. The palate is soft, with toffee, butterscotch, baked pear, cherry and gentle spice. The finish is medium, warm and clean.
