Maker's Mark – Bourbon Whisky (45%)

A wheated bourbon distilled and bottled in Loretto, Kentucky, at 45% ABV. Maker's Mark has been made there since 1958, and uses soft red winter wheat as the secondary grain in place of rye. The mash bill is about 70% corn, 16% wheat and 14% malted barley. It is aged in new charred American white oak barrels, hand-rotated in temperature-controlled warehouses, and every bottle is dipped by hand in red wax. The nose is vanilla, caramel and honey with baked apple and toasted oak. The palate is creamy and full-bodied, with vanilla bean, butterscotch and toffee, and gentle oak spice. The finish is warm and lingering, with caramelised sugar, toasted grain and a faint echo of baking spice.
