Maker's Mark – Cask Strength Bourbon (75cl, 56.1%)

Maker's Mark Cask Strength is a wheated bourbon from Loretto, Kentucky, bottled at barrel proof, about 56.1% ABV, in a 75cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered. The mashbill is the same as the flagship's: 70% corn, 16% red winter wheat and 14% malted barley. The whisky goes from barrel to bottle without being reduced with water, and the wheat in place of rye gives a softer, sweeter character. The nose is toasted oak and salted caramel, with dark chocolate, vanilla bean, apricot, cinnamon and clove. The palate is thick and creamy, with caramel fudge, butterscotch, red fruit and charred oak. The finish is long, with vanilla cream, dark caramel and nutmeg.
