Maker's Mark – Kentucky Bourbon (175cl, 45%)

Maker's Mark is a Kentucky bourbon from Loretto, founded there in 1954 by Bill Samuels. It is made with wheat in place of rye: the mash bill is 70% corn, 16% wheat and 14% malted barley, which gives a softer, sweeter bourbon than the usual corn and rye recipe. It is aged for roughly six years and bottled at 45% ABV, here in a 1.75 litre bottle with the brand's red wax seal. It is typically described as sweet and creamy, with baking spice and plenty of vanilla on the finish.
