This is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Maker's Mark, bottled at 45% in a 70cl bottle. It is made with low-iron spring water from the distillery grounds and a mash of at least 51% corn, with red winter wheat for a rounder, softer taste.
The bourbon spends between 5½ and 6½ years in new American oak, depending on temperature and humidity. Barrels are chosen 19 at a time, and each bottle is dipped by hand in red wax.
The colour is a dark golden copper. The nose is sweet and intensely spiced, with vanilla, caramel and toasted nuts. The palate is sweet, soft and very mild, and the finish is long.
