Maker's Mark No. 46 'Bill's Recipe' is a wheated Kentucky bourbon finished in French oak. Fully matured Maker's Mark has ten seared virgin French oak staves added to each barrel for a further nine weeks in the limestone cellar, and it is bottled at 47% ABV. The mash bill uses soft red winter wheat in place of rye.
Released in 2010, it was the first major new expression from the distillery in more than half a century, created under the taste vision of Bill Samuels Jr.
The nose is sweet and toasty with caramel. The palate is creamy, with seared oak, caramel and vanilla, and the long oaky finish carries a little spice.
