Maker's Mark No. 46 is a Kentucky straight bourbon in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 47%. The name refers to trial number 46, the attempt in which Maker's Mark settled on the method for this bottling.
The method is to place ten staves of French oak inside a cask. These bring natural notes of caramel, vanilla and spice. Maker's Mark bourbon was then put into the modified cask, which stood in the coolest spot at the distillery. After ten weeks the result was judged right and the recipe was set.
